Council 1966

Peter Black -  From  Milton, Conn. - a second year councilor after having spent seven years as a camper and UL at Hyde Bay. He will be attending Milton High School next year. He is again working with wrestling, baseball, and trips.

Mike Brough - from Manlius, N.Y. - first year as a councilor and new to Hyde Bay. He will be entering his sophomore year at Georgetown University in in Washington, D.C. He is mainly working with our golf program.

Richard Carlton - from Ringoes, N.J. - in his seventh year as a councilor. He will be assisting the Director in all camp activities. He is joined by his wife, Ginny, who is tutoring in French and working in our camp store. Susy, who is fifteen years old, is acting as nursemaid to all the animals that have been trapped by the nature department. Dick taught high school Chemistry and Biology in the Somerville, N.J. High School.

Scott Carlton - also from Ringoes, N.J. — will be entering his sophomore year at Cornell University next fall Third year as a councilor after five years as a camper an UL. He will be heading up the nature program along with archery and sailing.

Ricky Coupe - from Albany, N.Y. - will be a senior at Albany Academy next year. This is his second year as a councilor after eight years as a camper and UL. Will be working in the baseball, swimming, and theater departments. He is also one of our Inspectors.

Alton Davison - from Baltimore, MD. - in his fourth year as a councilor. Teaches english at the high school level in Baltimore. His wife, Jo Ann, is librarian at the Gilman School and has a full time job here at camp with six year old Ann and year old nephew, Tribb. Alton is one of the three assistants to the Director, handling many camp activities and details too numerous to mention.

John Diamond — from Pittsburg, Pa. a fourth year councilor, having been at Hyde Bay for four years as a camper and UL. He will be entering his sophomore year at Syracuse University in the fall. He is working in the archery department.

Linc Fasch - from Milton, Mass. — a first year councilor and new to Hyde Bay. He enters his sophomore year at Bethany College, Bethany, W. Va. His efforts will be centered in the waterfront department but has considerable interest in nature and fishing.

Jamie Flowers - from Houston, Texas has just finished his senior year at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. - a third year councilor after three years as a camper and UL. He is heading up our tennis department.

Fred Gale - from Syracuse, N.Y. - will be entering Fayetteville-Manlius High School in the fall. He is a first year councilor after seven years as a camper and UL. He will be second in command on the tennis courts.

Dave Gotshall - from Bethlehem, Pa. - enters his junior year at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pa. He is a first year councilor after five years as a camper and UL. He is working in the sailing department as well as taking many trips.

Hunt Hilliard — from Baltimore, MD. - seven years as a councilor. Teaches math and Shop in the Lower School at Gilman School. His wife, Wilma, is overseeing the laundry at camp as well as keeping an eye on eight year old daughter, Diedre. Hunt is also one of three assistants to the Director and is in charge of the handicraft department.

Tom Kemp — from Waterville, N.Y. - second year as a councilor at Hyde Bay. Will be in complete charge of our riding program having had very diversified experience working with horses.

Perry Lerner - from San Bernardino, California and now going into his second year at Harvard Law School. First year councilor and new to Hyde Bay. He is handling the typing course, chief Inspector, and generally assisting with many camp activities. His wife, Susan, is an R.N. from U.C.L.A. and is in charge of the nursing care of the campers.

Jeff Levi - from Baltimore, MD. - second year councilor after two years as a UL. He attends Gilman School and is working in trips, on the waterfront, and in the baseball departments. He is also an able Inspector.

John Marshak — from Chicago, Ill. — first year councilor and new to Hyde Bay. He graduated from Harvard and has just finished graduate school at Tufts University. He will be teaching this fall at the Wheaton Senior High School in Weaton, MD. He is head of the waterfront department.

Mike McClelland - from Baltimore - second year councilor after four years as camper and UL. He attends Boys Latin School in Baltimore and is working in the swimming department with emphasis on water skiing.

Pete Mehl - from Conshohocken, Pa. - first year councilor after four years as camper and UL. Attends Upper Merrion High School in King of Prussia, Pa. He is working in the wrestling department and with trips.

John Mercer — from South Byfield, Mass. - fifth year as a councilor after fifteen years as a Hyde Bay dependent, camper, and UL. Entering his third year at Harvard University and is heading up the trip program.

Todd Mulvenny - from Baltimore - fifth year as a councilor after four years as a camper and UL. He is going into his third year at Washington College in the fall and heeds up the athletic program as well as coaching the varsity baseball team.

Rusty Pickett - from Milton, Mass. - first year councilor after fifteen years as Hyde Bay dependent, camper, and UL. Eaters his third year at Phillips Academy. He is working in the sailing department as well as taking many trips.

Tim Pitts - from Baltimore - second year councilor after two years as a UL. Attends Friends School in Baltimore and is working in the waterfront department, particularily in water skiing.

George Radcliffe - from Baltimore — first year councilor after four years as a camper and UL. He is entering his senior year at Gilman School and is working in the sailing department as well as with trips.

John Schmick — from Baltimore — enters his senior year at Gilman School. He is a first year councilor after five years as a camper and UL. He is working in the theater department and assisting in tennis.

Josh Shoemaker - from Baltimore. He is a second year councilor after five years as a camper and UL. He enters his senior year at Gilman School and is working in the theater department.

John Spragins - from Lutherville, MD. - goes into his junior year at Gilman school. He is a first year councilor after three years as a camper and UL. He will be working on the waterfront and assisting in the theater and wrestling.

Jim Stone - from Baltimore - enters his junior year at McDonogh School in Baltimore. He is a first year councilor after two years as a UI, and is working on the waterfront.

Bill Thomas - from Westminster, MD. - will be a junior at Westminster High School in the fall. He is a first year councilor after three years as a camper and UL and is working in the sailing department.

Chooch Turner - from Baltimore - entering his junior year at Severn School in Severna Park MD. he is a first year councilor after two years as a UL. He is working on the waterfront and in baseball.

Chris West - from Baltimore - entering his junior year at Gilman School. He is a first year councilor after four years as a camper and UL. and will be working on the waterfront along with trips.

Peter Wilkins - from Syracuse, N.Y. - entering the senior year at Nottingham High School in Syracuse. He is a first year councilor after one year as a UL. He is assisting in tho riding program as well as nature and handicrafts.

Henry Norman — from Baltimore - in his fourteenth year as chef at Hyde Bay. He is also a chef at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. during the winter.

John Stevens — from Washington, D.C. — starting his fifth year at camp. Also works at Episcopal High School. He is assisting Henry and taking charge in the dining room.

Robert Jordan — from West Virginia — first year at Hyde Bay. Works at Episcopal High School in the winter and is the manager of the dishwashing department.

A FURTHER EXPLANATION: of the bills which were sent out last week.
This billing includes the full camp fee for those in camp - both full time and the first four weeks. If it is more convenient for those here all summer, half the tuition may be paid now and the remaining at the second bi1ling sometime the last of July. If your son is registered for July and wishes to stay on for the second month, the tuition will be figured on the full summer amount $520.00. Otherwise, it will remain at the short term rate. The tutoring fee is based on a projected figure. The final figure will be adjusted on the final billing after camp closes.
           First month boys: Kindly return the enclosed CARD as soon s possible with the pertinent information. We have been advised via the boy that, in some cases he wishes to remain for the second half. We will so indicate this on the respective reports - to be confirmed by the parents in the near future. We will hold their places open until we receive definite information. All those wishing to stay for the second month are welcome provided we have parental confirmation.
The mimeographed enclosure is self-explanatory. You are perfectly free to do exactly as you wish regarding it.
           Second month boys: We still have a few “Arrival Cards” outstanding that we have not yet received. We would appreciate your sending them at once so we may arrange things properly. The important date is:
                  Sunday, July 24 --- Dinner is served at 1:30 p.m. and supper is at 6:15 p.m. It will facilitate us greatly if your arrival is either before or after these times.
