THE HYDE BAY HOME LETTER OF AUGUST 10 TO 15

WEATHER.
If rain were a comodity which might be used in trade we should be busy exporting. This week has seen more continuous rain than we have had any week this wet season. It has not been hard rain but has made up for its severity by its quiet insistence.  Nights have been cool.

FIRE.
For several days and nights at the start of the week the open fire was going in the Lodge, if it must have a name. On two mornings the little heater was going gratefully in the sutdy-hall.

AQUA-PLANE.
This week has seen a considerable increase in the use of this nimble board. At present writing it reposes somewhere on the bottom of the lake . A sudden dive of the board bedded it into the mud. The search will be continued to- morrow. This is Saturday night.

FLORA.
Much beauty has been added to the aquarium by the planting of many waterplants and ferns brought down from Shadow Brook. Queer holes have begun to appear in the dam. They are attributed by some to crawfish. No turtles have been causht as yet.

HORSE HIKES.

Two troops have gone out on over hight cavalry raids. Mr. Jack took Buddy Weld, Bobby Pickett and Eddie Munger out for the first one. It rained gently all night but a tent of ponchos kept the riders as dry as they wanted to be. Mr. Payne led forth , Hynson, Huidekoper, and Morse, Bobby. They were favored by perfect weather. As time goes on all will have a chance at this adventure.

NO NEWS.

No boys have come . No boys have gone. The single exception to the foregoing statement is the arrival of Freddy Florens for a stay of two weeks. With so much rain events are hard to chronicle.

TOURNAMENTS.
Both Senior and Junior horse shoe tournaments are under way. The small boys ran theirs off in a single day, devoting all their time to it. The rest of the camp seems able to take their horse shoes or leave them alone. The contest will be over next week when both champions will be announced in this sheet.

CAMP CLOSES
Two weeks more of camp this year. Boys will leave either on Friday August 25th or Saturday following,as their plans permit. The usual Hyde Bay Wind-Up will take place with the usual events this coming week.
