Comments and Correspondence 2007

Steve Childs 08/21/2007 - Over the years I have had fleeting thoughts concerning Hyde Bay Camp. I was there for the last 3 years; two years as a camper and one as a junior councilor. A couple days ago I did a little more in-depth searching and found the Hyde Bay Camp website. What a wonderful effort and tribute to the people and the concept of a truly great boys camp. Seeing the faces and names of councilors and campers from 40 years ago is a pretty powerful experience. Most kids of that time really only have memories – who would be toting a camera around at a boys camp? It’s nice to see all those pictures.
I am obviously not within the inner circle of the Hyde Bay Camp experience. I went to public schools in Pennsylvania and can only now appreciate the impact on those who had a much longer exposure and history with Hyde Bay. It’s great that Hyde Bay is remembered.
Jolly would remember me as the camper who could have been his twin.

Tim Bennett 06/14/2007 - Just discovered this web site. Hope it is still being updated. I went to Hyde Bay from about 1963 to the end in 1969. Great to read the letters from old campers and see the pictures of the re-unions etc. It was just a great place to be as a kid. Couldn’t wait to get there and hated to leave at the end of the summer. I still visit from time to time as I live just 40 minutes from Hyde Bay.
