UL and Councilor from 1955 - 1961

       I was a tutoring student in '55, a UL in '56, Counselor in '57, '59, '60 & '61 in tents 8, 53A, 53A & 14 respectively ... I recall working in New York and going to Summer School in '58.

       I've have been reminiscing in anticipation of the 2011 Durbar which my wife, Claudette, and I hope to attend. It's been 53 years since my tent picture was taken, so I thought I'd send you an update for your "Where Are The Campers Now?" page. 

       I attended Denison University before entering the Navy to help JFK during the Cuban Crisis, spending all of my three years on the West Coast or aboard the USS Bennington, keeping the peace in the Pacific.

       Getting out just before Vietnam, I spent the next 35+ years with the airlines, training with United for 5 and spending the rest with Japan Airlines in sales and marketing, having started as a customer contact and sales training instructor.

       I retired in 2000 to help Claudette with her Mom who had moved in with us. After my 401K headed south, I began helping Claudette with our plan B retirement business promoting Shaklee to all who want to improve their health and well being. Claudette and I married in 1977, and except for a 3-year stint as the DSM for JAL in Denver, we have lived here in the San Francisco Bay area. We keep in touch with the Picketts, Mercers, Jock McQuilkin and Mac Mellor, and it was great to run into Doug Coupe at my 50th at The Governor's Academy, (formerly GDA) two years ago. Have been trying to make these Durbars for years, and finally it looks like our schedules will coincide. Hope to see you all on August 4th, 2011 ... Jim Main.
