BILL BERGSTROM: from Manlius, N.Y. Third year as a councilor, former camper and UL, enters Alfred College in September after having graduated from Pebble Hill School this past June. Is working in sailing. JOHN BRIGGS: from Rochester, N.Y. A first-year councilor after being a second-year UL last year. Attending Harley School in Rochester and is working with baseball and other competitive sports. RANDY BURWELL: from Stamford, Connecticut. Is a second-year councilor after several seasons as a camper and UL. A senior at Hopkins Grammar School in New Haven and will be working in sailing. SCOTT CARLTON: from Somerville, New Jersey. First year as a councilor after a year’s absence in Saigon and several years as a camper and UL. He will be a senior in high school in Somerville and heads the nature program along with assisting in archery. DICK CARITON: In his fifth year as a councilor with the past year out in the Government IVS program in Saigon, Viet Nam. His wife, Ginny, will be tutoring French and working in our camp store. Daughter, Susy, will be busy taking care of “Chirkie” - a Mynah bird obtained in Saigon. Dick will be teaching high school chemistry and biology in Somerville, N.J. in the fall. He is one of three assistants to the Director and is working STEVE CUNNINGHAM: from Lutherville, Maryland. A first year councilor after several years as a camper and UL. A junior in Delaney Senior High School in Lutherville. Working in riding. ALTON DAVISON: from Baltimore, Maryland. In his second year as a councilor at Hyde Bay. Teaches english in high school in Baltimore. His wife, JoAnn, librarian at Gilman School, has a full time summer job with three-year old daughter, Ann. Alton is one of three assistants to the Director, handling many in-camp details. JOHN DIAMOND: from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A second-year councilor after several years as a camper and UL. A senior at the Fox Chapel Area High School In Pittsburgh. Working in the theater and assisting in archery. JAMIE FLOWERS: from Houston, Texas. A first-year councilor - was a camper and UL. A Junior at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and is in the tennis department. LOU HIGGINS: from Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Is in his first year as a councilor at Hyde Bay but has been with us in past years as a camper. A graduate of Governor Dummer Academy in South Byfield, Massachusetts and now entering Hobart College in the fall. Working with trips and wrestling. HUNT HILLIARD: from Baltimore, Maryland. In his fifth year at Hyde Bay. Teaches math and shop in the Gilman Lower School in Baltimore. His wife, Wilma, is overseeing the laundry at camp as well as overseeing seven-year NICKY KING: from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A first-year councilor and was a camper and UL. Attends the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Working on the waterfront and in wrestling. JOHN McCAY: from Baltimore, Maryland. In his first year as a councilor with past experience as a camper. A graduate from Gilman School and enters Oberlin College in the fall. Working with the theater department. PETER McMANUS: from Baltimore, Maryland. First year as a councilor and a former camper and UL. A junior at Washington and Lee College in Lexington, Virginia. Working in riding. JOHN MERCER: from South Byfield, Massachusetts. A third-year councilor. Has been at Hyde Bay as a camper, UL, or councilor all but one of his camping years. A graduate of Governor Dummer Academy and will enter Harvard University in the fall. He is heading the theater department. TOM MERCER: from South Byfield, Massachusetts With six years as a councilor behind him, Tom has also been at Hyde Bay all of his camping years but one. A senior at Harvard University, he is heading up the sailing department. GLENN MOULTON: from Waltham, Massachusetts. A welcome newcomer to Hyde Bay, Glenn is a sophomore at Eastern Michigan College in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is on the waterfront teaching Junior Life Saving and general swimming. TODD MULVENNY: from Baltimore, Maryland. A third-year councilor and past camper and UL. A graduate of St Paul’s School in Baltimore, he enters Washington University in Maryland. Working in baseball and coaching. CHIP O’BRIEN: from Princeton, New Jersey. A first-year councilor coming from the ranks of camper and UL. A junior at Lawrenceville School in N.J. and is also working in baseball. LAWRY PICKETT: from Syracuse, New York. A third-year councilor and past camper and UL. A sophomore at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. Heads the archery program. CHUCK PIERCE: from Bath, Maine. A third year as a councilor. Graduated from Ohio State University and heads the waterfront department. FRANK PINE: from Baltimore, Maryland. Has been at Hyde Bay for six years as a councilor and was a camper and UL before that. Graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio and probably going into the Peace Corps. Working on the waterfront and in the nature program. RICKY REESE: from Baltimore, Maryland. A second-year councilor and past camper and UL. Graduate from Oilman School and entering Rippon College in Wisconsin in September. Working with riding. WALT ROGERS: from Syracuse, Ner York. In his fourth year as a councilor. Former camper and UL and now a sophomore in Hamilton College. Working with the sailing group. DAVE WILBER: Third year as a councilor. Has been a camper also. Now a sophomore at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Working with water skiing, trips, and motor boating. PERRY WINSTON: from Binghamton, New York. A fourth-year councilor. Past camper and UL. A sophomore at Harvard University and heads the tennis. DARYL YOUNG: from Bethel, Maine. A second year councilor and has been a camper and UL. Attends Gould Academy in Bethel and is in the swimming department. MR. JAMES DRESSER: The tutoring department is under the direction of Jim Dresser who is also the head of the math department at Gilman School. He, of course, is doing the math here at camp. THE PICKETTS: This includes Mrs. Pickett who usually makes the regular trip to town for mail and various errands. Bob Pickett, the Director, and his wife, Betty, who is our nurse and secretary. |
