According to Tom Lynn (Pers. Comm.), his dad and Walter Lord used pseudonyms that were the names of baseball players. Woody Abernathy played with the Baltimore Orioles from 1934 to 1937. Outfielder Ab Wright had two stints in the majors but was a big star in the minors, winning the American Association Triple Crown in 1940.
