Steve Cunningham writing March 24, 2016 - Debate solved. According to Jamie Sayen, who just found and enjoyed the Hyde Bay website, this photo is from 1961. He did not attend camp in 1962 but recognizes himself in front and just to the right of Tom Mercer.

May 31, 2003 -- John Mercer writing -- Chris may well be right about the date; the 1961 on this series was a guess. Anyone else want to weigh in?

October 11, 2002 -- Chris West writing -- The thing that threw me about this photo was the date of 1961 which you have ascribed to it. I didn't come to Hyde Bay until the summer of 1962, but the more I stare at that photo, the more I am convinced that the third person from the left in that photo (the camper with his left arm resting on his left knee) is me. It looks just like me; I used to have a shirt just like the one on that camper, and I still have stuck in the back of my closet a very old pair of hiking boots which my parents bought for me new in 1962 and which are identical to the boots worn by that camper. Also, back in that era, I was oblivious to my attire and frequently wore black socks with sneakers and hiking boots. So you need to confirm the date of the photo. If it's 1962, that's me in the photo. If it's definitely 1961, then there was a look-alike camper the previous year.

John Mercer writing --1961. Tom Mercer is dayman; Ricky Coupe looks on at the farthest left. Who else?

Steve Cunningham writing - Jamie Sayen in front just to the right of Tom.
